496 build...
Just bought a 454 block and i am planning a 496 build. I have a 402 1972monte carlo, numbers matching that runs quite well ( low 14's with exhaust manifolds, cast iron intake and quadrajet). I put the car in shows but am looking for more power. Don't really care to spend $$ on the 402 as it would be futile. I want nasty torque. The car has a 3:42 12 bolt w/ 2500 converter. The 3:42 isn't much but i don't like it on the highway. The plan is a 496. The srp pistons at zero deck and .039 gasket yields about 9.4 to 1. The slight dome design gives decent squish. I'm going to use the 292 casting heads off the 402 ( 219/1.88 pocket ported) cast iron intake and exh manifolds that have been worked...all to maintain stock look. Currently looking at howards #120235 214/222 .514/.537 112 cam ( short duration) hyd roller. The carb is jet performance stage 2 quadrajet.
This build with a 3:08 rear and very small converter. The car weighs 4000 with me in it.
My question is dynamic compression. I want a short duration cam for the heavy car but i'm curious how this will vie with the static compression on pumped gas.
Basically, I want to build as much torque as possible out of a 496 to get this pig moving. I keep the stock look because it does better in the shows.
Any opinions are appreciated.

Thanks for the reply Pat. yeah, i will probably go with the 045 cam- 222/234 .577 I forget that the added cubes absorb the cam.
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
