    454 BBC... Advice Needed

Hey guys and gals, i was offered a trade but i want to see if it's worth it. Maybe you guys can help me out.

He has the 454 complete lower end, needs rings and bearings from a 1976 gmc 3500. .020 bose, .010 / ,010 crank.
A pr of oval port bare cast heads # 3993820
A forged crank # 7416 (nice), polished, don’t know the size.
    A lunati stroker @ 4 ½ “ .020 mains, .010 rods with clevite hardened bearings
    A pr of BBC/nova headers
An edelbrock torker 2 intake square

This is what he wants for that stuff

Nice set of AR Rims w/tires, MXL vocal recording condencer mic ($100), boss DS1 pedal ($75), dimarzio guitar pickups ($100).

Plus i have to travel over an hr to bring my stuff and pick up the parts.

    What you think?

As long as all of that stuff fits together. You will have to figure out which you would rather have. If you have a vehicle to put it in, then it might be the way to go.
It would be nicer to have an engine that was all put together to start with. My thoughts are that when you buy an engine that is apart, there is a reason why it's not back together. Kick back, have a (bud)weiser and think about it.

I have engines for my cars already but my 81 Camaro only has a POS 305. There is a block but unsure of mains (2 or 4). heres a few pics of the rims front tires are mint P215/65R15 and the rear tires could be changed IMO, little bit of tred left 50R15 MT Indy Profile.

    Before i cleaned them up

those rims are sweet! I think they are the ones on the 67-72 chevy truck on dazed and confused! Although if you don't plan on using the rims and you have different pickups for your fiddle then I would do it, two bolt or not. Hell two bolts will handle ALOT of power. plus the stroker crank is worth at least $200 or so maybe less, but it sounds like a deal to me. Word to the wise: I bought a 454 complete but disassembled for around $800, it is a 4 bolt but the guy said it was ready to build, and it wasn't!! so be careful, ( look for cracks in the heads)

thanks for the advice guys, he also said it was the original bore/pistons, the block is all in tact but it needs bearings and rings, the heads are also bare. He even invited me over to go check out his BBC collection, he does really like the rims though. But i'm still kinda skeptical about it, why not build that one if you have a collection? I would love a BBC always wanted the 396 but a 454 is good too, but i do like those rims to lol.

If that is a Lunati stroker crank, it sold for about $800 new. I would not use stock rods and pistons with a stroker crankshaft. 496 is 4.250 crank, 6.385 rods, block bored .060. Intake is not good for 496 build. Heads and block need to be checked by machine shop to make sure they are useable.
