    Spark Plugs

Just wondering what everyone runs? I've been told the AC R44T or AC R44TS? It's gonna be going in my 468 that runs in the mud

This came up not long ago in a question from Slantback37, and it seemed that both NGK and Bosch were popular, with a few votes for Autolite, too. The consensus was that people have become less satisfied with AC and Champion in recent years, mainly due to several cases of premature failure, or getting bad plugs out of the box.

I've got a bucket of old plugs (use them for fishing weights - another story) and most are AC some Autolites and a few NGK and Bosch. I've been pleased with AC in my Chevy's, but I always have always used NGK in the two strokes and race bikes. Ford uses platinum in the 5.4 Expedition and they performed well for 120K miles - looked like they could go a lot longer, but mostly highway driving.

Never had problems with the NGK and believe me, we've had our share of mud with the motocross bikes over the years!

Funny, I just signed on to search on this topic. Im running ACdelco R44T but am trying to track down a gremlin that makes my 454 break up and pop in higher rpms. Ive gone thru the carb, HEI and wires and now planned to get new plugs, (other than AC delcos). Napa counter jockey basically refused to sell me NGKs saying it was a waste of money, but said I could step up to hotter ACDelco R45T. Thoughts?

I'd say your NAPA guy may be out of touch with recent quality issues of his spark plugs, but that's just my $0.02 on it.

I have always ran AC Delcos or champions never had a problem with my race cars or street cars. when ever there was a problem it was either wires or ign. box. Just my two cents

i work at a boat yard many years ago. there was a run of bad AC plugs they would rim fire and miss at hi speed .one day they pulled me off a job to look at a boat that no one could get to run right the boxs .wires. dist. were all replaced on two V6 engines this was under warranty but they always checked warranty parts if bad they paid if not bad the dealer would eat it. they knew this going in to this job. anyways the spark would walk the cap . 12 new plugs fixed this .dealer ship had to eat the two days work new box. wires. new dist. and time .$$$ .so it was the first thing i did . if any new boat would not run right bad idle .hi speed miss.i allways started with new plugs there was alot of AC plugs i changed out were the center was pointing to the plug body away from ground strap. it was a bad run of plugs after that i was not sold on AC plugs.i use auto lites .but i look them over good make sure there on center.you should not need any more then a 44or 8 in champ

Sounds like you've gotten you question answered quite well.
Wonder if the NGK distributor is aware that "counter jockey" is
    running their products down???
