402 stroking
hello, name is sam, have read a lot of post on the bb forum. i'm working on building a '71 402 for my '74 nova. block#3969854,heads#3993820.i will be running it with a t400 trans.,around 3:73's in the rear.i've already gotten a set of kb160-60 hyper. pistons.will be boring .060 over, plan on having heads ported & polished with also installing 1.88 exhaust valves.was told by kb these pistons should give me 9 to 1, 9.25 to 1 compression.also plan on going with edelbrock rpm air gap intake. i have 2 questions that i would appreciate any help with answers to.1) can i put a 4" stroke crank from a 454 in this motor and still use the new pistons i've already purchased?(any additional cubes i know is a benefit and figured should bring motor to 440 ci) 2-what howards cam and size carb would give me 450 to 500 hp? if possible. i plan on using car for hot street/sometimes strip car. any guess's or estimates this combo may give me in 1/4 mile times? thank you for any help, enjoy reading the forums and now looking forward to being involved when needed if i can help someoneLast edited by 74novabb; 07-01-2011 at 06:06 PM.

you would use the KB 361 that will get 434 with a454 crank you may cut the deck of the pistons you have done it with a piston vise i done the job many times . domes need to get trimed to and re fly cut cheaper buying the pistons to fit .has for cams i could help you but sounds like you have a cam company your dealing with so call them i machine and build alot of BBC i use hyd roller s for street and sold rollers for hot street and off road . i have some roller cams and GM cast 454 cranks if needed last 402 i built and machined is 460hp and 500 tq with some work i do to the headsIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip

hello mr mccarthy, sorry for the misunderstanding on the cam co. selection.the reason i mentioned howards is from reading some of your forum post replies and noticing how much you speak of their hyd rollers, this is what i figured to put in the 402.just wanted a recommendation of which one and the kb361 pistons i'm not to familiar with but will definitely try to find
