77 454 rear main seal
The rear main seal position, if Im rearing package right, set in,
off set 3/8 in ? not flush with block? it is a two part rubber seal. I know this is easy stuff for you guys. The wife has me on a diet patch, but I don't think its work'in, she said you have that thing on right? said, ya, on my arm. She said, dumb ass, it go's over your mouth!

I install the rear mains with the parting lines @ 1 o-clock & 7 o-clock.Also be sure the lip of the seal is towards the inside of the engine.

You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
