Big block chevy heads
I am slowly building a 496. I plan on using some things from my 402...intake, headers, pan, timing cover, and heads. The heads are 292 casting. Does anyone know if these heads would be suitable? They are 113cc with 219/ 188 valves and pocket ported. Exhaust runners smoothed out and short side cleaned up. The cam is a hyd roller 242/248 .560/.578 110 lsa compression will be a bit over 10 to 1. The 292 casting is similar to the 820.
Does anyone have any experience with these heads? Thankyou

shure i have used many over the years . do i have flow numbers on them NO. did they work on the builds i used them on yes . is there better heads for the 496 yes .but for a low buck build i would re work them and use them if that is the only thing i had on handLast edited by pat mccarthy; 08-17-2011 at 08:55 PM.

I would recommend 781s or 049s those seem to be the ones everyone wants for a 496 Stroker !! OVAL PORT - Valve size 2.06 intake, 1.72 exhaust
