rule change I need a new cam
So the club that I belong to changed their rules again (mostly because my last engine built with advice from you guys cleaned up last season). The new rule in my class states that I must run a factory grind for a cam, but they never stated what year that grind has to be. the way I see it is I can run any cam that the general offered in 454, this should allow some fairly potent offerings. That being said what were some of the best 454 cams offered by the factory. Only thing is it must be flat tappet and must pull 15" of vac. I thought about the ls6 mechanical but I doubt it would have enough vacuum at idle. The ls5 hydraulic seems like it might be a better option, but as I have never used a factory cam I need to draw on some of your experience here. Thanks in advance, Clinto.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
