    454 marine build

Hi guys new to the club I need some advice on a 454 marine build. Myse sons have a 24' Searay Sedan Flybridge boat. We are repowering had a 350 255 HP but didnt have enough power to psuh the boat loaded offshore . I recently purchased a 1984 454 out of a 1 ton dually. it has 100,000 miles on it but will roll over so that is the bases for the rebuild. I have a good mechanic for rebuild to help. I would appreciate any suggestions you have as to what I will need to get 300 to 350 HP out of it. I imagine engine is the std. 230 HP choked down with emmisions. It is flooding here or I would post casting#. We are planning on a freshwater cooled engine and saltwater cooled exhaust. The engine will be hooked to a Volvo Penta 280 Outdrive am hoping to go to the DUO prop set up after engine is installed and tested.
    Thanks

Pat may not see your question quickly. "PM" is a Personal Message - left click a person's screen name and you'll get a box with several choices. PM's have a 1000 character limit, so they're not for long explanations but are seen only by the parties addressed, not open forum. Access PM's to you by clicking "Notifications" at the top right of each screen, then selecting "Inbox". From there you can read old/new messages, start new messasges to others, etc.

Pat will have to tell you what he means by the reference to a Merc engine. You might want to check your PM inbox and see if he sent you something there?
