454 questions
Hi guys, great forum! I'm new here and to big blocks. Have a couple of questions. i bought a 64 impala that i'm goin to put a 454 in. My q is, I found a 77 454 in great running shape with 40k miles on it. I was wondering if it would be ok to put a new cam/lifters, intake, headers and carb and just run the motor as is? I'm not looking for a blow your doors off 12 to 1 eng, just a good street performer. Looking at the lunati street master cam with 223/231 dur @ .050 and .525/.550 lift. I know i will need springs, but will this cam work with for what i want with this engine? Cam rpm range is 1800-6200 and i plan on a 2400 stall and 4.11 gear. Thanks

oil pan may not fit on the 65s i have used the milodon 57 chevy oil pan as it a shorter sump and will not hit on the streering as for your re cam its abit big for low cr 454 could work but the heads will need work to get it to work valve seals and gulds will need work around 550 things gets close with oem stuff and NO on the stock rotator you should use a eliminatorsIrish Diplomacy ..the ability to tell someone to go to Hell ,,So that they will look forward to to the trip
