    CDV117856 engine Vin code

Guys , I have this 454/468 BBC I got a few years ago. It was a very very strong motor in a absolutely totaled 78 malibu. It was driveable, but not streetable due to the whole right side of the car was mangled. This car ran like a dog on fire (I drove it once) and the story that surrounded the car supported that. now Im thinking of selling it in favor of building a FI roller 454 for my 57. Problem is the only number on the front pad is CDV117856. This does not seem to follow any format I can find. casting is 14015445 with what looks like date code H268. Im thinking its a 78 454 maybe 4BM. Anyway any of you that can explain the CDV prefix would help. I just cant find this format.

My guess is if there is no casting numbers at the front of the block
behind the timing chain, this an aftermarket cast block.
I don't know all the companies that have done or still do it.

    World Performance // Bill Mitchell
    Dart
    MoTown
    Maybe RHS?

Does it have aluminum heads or iron heads?

pat mccarthy may chime in with more help.
