well what is he doing ? has a gear has the cr piston ? so ?? two cams only to pick threw ? never did get any info on were the piston is in the hole or out or real head chamber cc .3000 stall no you do not need that much you not going to find one thats is going to be right on the money the stalls cheap ones can get close. it is not like your going to be slipping so bad it will not roll to 3000rpms .i have 4000/4500 stalls on the street for many years they work fine the car moves way before 4500 and is just not slipping so bad it can not move till then. but you will have to deal with added heat as they slip some not that you feel it . i only drive around town. for over 20 years i done it . i use Coan. tell them what i am doing they build very good converters they know what there doing so it can be done. done it many times.you could get away abit less stall . is this a 20 mile and out to town and back home ? if so the cam the stall and cr is fine if your going to drive it all over you may want to rethink the build pistons domes can be cut some to drop cr then a smaller can like 550/550 and 222/230 on a 110 lsa then you can used all most a stock stall . your first parts list i build 30 engines much like this and can work . but if your not wanting to deal with some things and trade off s of that build then swap out the pistons to a flat top piston then use the 500/500 224/224 115 marine cam take out there about $40./75 bucks i used many of this cam for lower buck roller cam builds. they have a good sound to them and build power it low rpm . a good intake with headers will make a easly 375 to 400 hp then you can drive it any were and use pump gasLast edited by pat mccarthy; 11-16-2014 at 02:01 PM.

Welcome to CHR! Glad to have you here, and hope you enjoy your stay. Just a word of advice, you'll get a lot more attention to your questions if you start a new thread as opposed to tagging on to an old one, this one from several months ago and specific to another guy's questions. It's totally up to you.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

mark IV or VI built many of both if bone stock engine the VI 454 /gen 6 is a step nose cam core and a roller cam engine but not to much cam in all stock form on either engine years . if the heads have rotators under the valve springs some heads only ex new or truck head both intake and ex side ? do you know ? valve guides may have to be cut down for most all valve seals if still stock for more lift . less your head have had guides cut down for pc seal or use the marine / old l88 snap sheilds in under the steel valves spring retainers going past 500to 544 lift or with stock parts rocker arms and valve springs going to be very close with a bone stock heads with more lift heads will need a going threw at the lest to check valve springs and coil bind valve seal room to guide and retainers to seal and you still should check piston to valve under 500 lift you should be ok but check it anyways i do . the heads on a mild build put rotator elimintors as this lets you use a better valve spring but i left them in place on some builds but not many . so for a mild to bone stock older low HP . low cr smog engine i like the marine cam it works it fits many cam companys make copys of them and have a spin on this cam as there copy of it with knowing much of what you have this cam works good it cams from 510/510 213/213@050 lc113 or the marine cam 500/500 050@222/222 lc114 there is better cams that may fit you need but the two cams are just about a drop insLast edited by pat mccarthy; 01-27-2015 at 07:14 PM.

I've got an 1981 c3500. 454 bone stock. It's sole purpose is to drive 20 miles a day to my work and back. Every few weekends, tow my trailer with my jeep on it up into the mountains. What mild cam would be recommended for this

I might be way off line saying this but you could always do what I do on cam selections...call the cam manufacturers!! No disrespect to anyone here but they really are experts, they are free also! Cam selection is extremely critical, sure beats wondering if you got the best one for the job, just choose your favorite manufacturer and give them your spec's. Best of luckWhy is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower
