you want to drive it every day need good fuel. there are many companys that make heads that can work i used most of them so very few on here other then jerry or me know much about the real heads and the fit finish i do..i used most all of them over the years the race rite brodix heads 270 cc runner i built many with this head as the ex port is in the spot as gm so there will be no issues with headers with a 25cc dome you will be around 10.2 you may want to losse a few ways to go one way is to order the heads with a cnc chamber i would go this way in this case if need help i a dealer for brodix and dart others an can send heads to you anywhere in the usa if neededLast edited by pat mccarthy; 01-21-2015 at 07:47 AM.

So you posted the exact same thing three days ago with an added embarrassed smiley ( Need help selecting heads for 454 ), I questioned your budget, Jack asked you a question, and Tech gave you input on an overall build approach for a street engine. Now you've got an offer from Pat to sell you a set of new heads. You say you need help, but what kind of help are you looking for here? Maybe if you can be a little more descriptive in what kind of information you want someone can help you?Last edited by rspears; 01-21-2015 at 08:26 AM.

Sorry fellas. I reposted because for some reason I did not see my post posted. Thanks so much forall you guys help. Race rites keep poping up. IM thinking of getting them bare and use their valves to make sure they are not china valves. But my surprise was that a small runner would work well on a big block. I figured it something like 312s.

Al, if you're considering bare heads you really ought to consider contacting this guy, and having confidence that the parts are right, and they're set up right. At least give him the opportunity to lose to someone who'll likely be less qualified - McCarthy Performance / Racing Engines to 632+ Cubes
PS, you can PM him here, too - http://www.clubhotrod.com/member.php?u=10396 Probably not many around with more BBC experience.Roger

how big of a head do you think you need ? they make a bigger heads many do dart .profiler and bigger 290 rec race rite.on valves not many made in the good old USA and getting them heads bare if old stock you will be in a world of hurt as they are raw no just a square seat no valve job or guid fitted you will neeed to cut the bowls out as well as ther are very raw much more then a valve job . they now come fully machined . i did buy them bare as i have a machine shop and a 3 d cutter setup to do a raw heads. the valves i use come from Argentina Ferrea make some of the best valves. as well as lsrael to and make king bearing s and Rollmaster timing set are made in the land of oz all some of the best parts money can buy .if you never built the race rites then buy them loaded as very few have the right intake over length right for that head.Last edited by pat mccarthy; 01-22-2015 at 04:55 AM.
