Up and down or side to side?
If side to side find another distributor, it's worn out. If up and down it needs shim(s) and easy to replace or add on. The pin through the gear can be driven out and the shaft can be pulled and cleaned. Add to shim pack as necessary but go too tight, the shaft should spin with ease.
I'd also carry a spare module as they have a habit of randomly quitting.
I've rebuilt a few over the years with the latest being the one in my 76 Corvette.Ken Thomas
