    Will a stock 12 bolt handle my 489 stroker with a small set of street slicks

    No, well maybe for a while
    but don't spend a lot of money on it cause it will just be wasted

    It depends how many 6 grand launches you plan to attempt. If you go "easy" on it, it'll last a long time.
    Of course, it's my opinion... that and a buck might get you a donut right?? LOL.

    Dana comes to mind. Strange makes good stuff too.

    Ford 9 inch is popular.
    .
    Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

    Mike’s right about going easy on it, but good luck keeping your foot out of it


    As Jerry said in stock form good luck, and that holds true for a lot of stock 9” Fords too. Either one can be built can be to hold up, but by the time you buy axles, a carrier, gears bearing retainers (for the 12 bolt) etc etc, it can be a pretty hefty price tag.

    Depending on how hard the car launches with slicks the only stock rear end I would really feel comfortable with would be the Dana 60. Mopar B Body Danas seem to be going in the $800-1500 range currently, but then again just going thru one of those with new bearing, seals, clutches etc will add a bit to the price.

    By the time you get thru with a used rear end you looking at a lot of labor and time . It starts making the ready built 9” Ford or Dana 60s start looking good …….Quick Performance 9” Ford or Moser Dana 60 will start around $2000 and go up from there depending on what upgrades you need or want (Brakes, bolt pattern, shipping etc.)
