Quadrajet 4 bbl MV vs Edelbrock 1410 Dimensions
I'm planning to swap my quadrajet MV 4 bbl with the edelbrock 1410 - the quadrajet aren't true marine carburetors. got on ebay and bad deal at the end.
anyone has an idea on the dimensions of the 2 kinds ?
my restrictions is on HIGH. it seems that edelprock is less high but i'm not sure.
to fit intake have to put adapter that is 1" to fit sqarebore
thanks for an input if you have.
would like to be sure before buy the new one.
regards to all.

The Edelbrock Instruction Manual doesn't show the flange to top dimension that I can see. I'd call Summit and ask, and the guy will likely pull one from stock and measure it for you, especially if you're ordering.Roger

Very simple, the Edlebrock/Carter is square bore and the Q-jet is spread bore.Ken Thomas

thanks for the answer ... yes i know the square vs spread bore. This is why i need to add the adpter that will get 1" additional in high. I don't know if the space in high i've will be enough for the swap.
Rsperas got your suggestion and probably the most working one but i need to go to harbour to get qjet high and check how much i've available as spare then move with Summit.
Consider that i'm leaving in Italy Milan ... boat in Tuscany ... will get time but i don't see how different could be at the stage.
Thanks a lot for the reply or any other, ciao.
Nick

You can always mill out your spread bore intake to accept a square bore carb, as the Edelbrock carb will accept the spreadbore bolt pattern, very simple operation for a machinist I have seen it done a bunch to cure the problem you have encountered, and done a ton on early hemi original intakes (they where originally spread bores), I had it done once years ago for $25, it was cheaper than the adapter, you just have to pull the intake. Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

If this carb is going on a boat you need a marine certified carb if you are ever inspected by the Coast guard that is a violation if it is in a closed eng room this is a vary unsafe thing to do marine carbs have a spefic float bowel vent there are many boats that blow up at start up gas fumes contained in a closed area are just like a bomb and kill a lot of people every year gasoline boats are vary dangerous and you'r insurance is void same thing with alternators and starters and ign systems you can't use automotive parts it only tskes one spark to ruin you'r hole day or lifeI'LL KEEP MY PROPERTY, MY MONEY, MY FREEDOM, AND MY GUNS, AND YOU CAN KEEP THE CHANGE------ THE PROBLEM WITH LIBERALISM IS SOONER OR LATER YOU RUN OUT OF OTHER PEOPLES MONEY margaret thacher 1984

I've never seen an early hemi with a "spreadbore carb" now there were cares with primary/secondary bores of different sizes but not a spreadbore(as in quadrjet)

Jerry you are correct they had the large & small holes used for the primary & secondaries most open up if they use a EdelbrockWhy is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most early 4 barrels were WCFB's. Then came Holley's, thermo quads and Rochesters and not in that order. Edlebrock didn't get involved until they bought out Carter. I have obviously missed some and most were complicated to work on and tune and if you've ever had a FoMoCo 4 barrel from a 67 T-Bird apart you'll know from where I speak.Ken Thomas

Ken, Have you ever noticed the big "W" on the Edelbrock carbs? They are made for Edelbrock by Weber is my understanding, and yes they (one of the two) bought out Carter. Kinda strange...Why is mine so big and yours so small, Chrysler FirePower

Not really I've only worked on one Eddy and that was years ago, I took a dislike to them in the 60's when they were Carters. I don't know or remember when Chevrolet quit using them, but I didn't disagree, screw up the float setting or float drop and you're in a world of hurt. Don't have that problem with a Holley. Got a friend that worked for them (Carter) when they had a plant in St. Louis.Ken Thomas
