3993820 casting heads
I´ve been offered a set of BB heads with this casting number, how they compare to 049 and 781's? the only difference seems to be they have 113cc ports instead of 119cc, the rest (ports, valves) appear to be the same.
Thanks

Chart states:
454 LS-5 heads, are they any good?, 454 engines equipped w/them cranked an advertised 365 hp.. maybe a small cam was used since fuel consumption became critical?, just wandering if they can achieve the same performance as 781 and 049 castings.
Thanks

Very good heads, they compare right up there with 781's or 049's, they might have a tad less flow at higher RPM's but you'll never know if it's not an all out race engine. The would benefit from 2.19/1.88 valves, but it's not a necessity. Have them CC'd though, I know of a set that actually CC'd at 122 cc's....check them first, that can make a pretty big difference in your C/R...but overall, grab them if the price is good. Hey what's up. I have the exact same heads you are talking about on my 454. With the stock valves and ports torque is awesome off the line. Unless you are going to try to rape the engine above 6000 rpm all the time these are kick butt heads. A nice port job would help but I would leave the valves stock. Hope you can pick em up at a killer price.
