    Prob with 454

Lately my Chevy truck hasn't had as much power as it used to and seems like it's running on like 6 cylinders or something so I thought that it's either the fuel filter, fuel injectors, plugs and wires or something of that sort. Well it isn't plugs and wires (chevy dealership said they will last 100,000 miles on this truck). Well I changed the fuel filter today and that didn't seem to help worth a damn. Later on today after driving it for a bit it will start making a noise like a winding or buzzing noise inside when you rev it up or eccelerate (like how sometimes you can put the AM radio on and it will do that sometimes). Anyways does anyone know why it's doing this? I heard that sometimes it could be your PCV valve but I can't remember where that's at and what that does again.
Any help on what my power problem is and what that noise is would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know why it started that noise all of a sudden and just now I just realized that it starting doing it after I got this fuel filter in....

    Thanks for any help.

the PCV valve usually is in the front of the driverside valve cover. When the engine runs, it creates blow-by gasses, and creates emmisions. The PCV valve sucks them up using vacum, and send it back to the carb to ger burned again

Have you ever checked your plug wire's at night? Sometimes you can see a bad wire that is cracked. Try cap and rotor also. If the noise started after the new filter , it may be backwards there is a arrow usually. It also could be the filter is too restictive and you fuel pump is whinning.

Thanks guy's. Yeah I am going to check the PCV valve out. Also Bob, I thought about a leak as well so I will have to see. I don't have any tools to check for leaks so I will have to bring it to the shop but I will try the other stuff first and see. How can I tell is the PCV valve is no good? I don't have much experience with things like PCV valve and checking for vac. leaks so please bear with me if I ask stupid questions.

Yeah the arrow is forward, I made sure of that. Well one thing I know is that every time I get parts here people seem to screw up and give me the wrong one so it could be the wrong kind or something. It looked like the same size and all because I check that but who knows. I will check the wire thing like you said at night and the rest of the things.
    Thanks again.

There is more than a pcv valve also there is a breater tube on the other valve cover check allof that for restriction or vacum leakage, to check for an external vacum leak (such as hoses, gaskets etc.) spray a small amount of carb cleaner or starting fluis arround the intake where the gasket is, also at the end of every hose(vacum Hose that is) arround the carb/throatle body etc. but start by disconnecting teh pcv valve with the engine running to see if that noise stops, pcv valve can be cleaned up with some carb. cleaner, spray it in to the valve and block inlet and autlet with your fingers and shake it for a good minute or two and maybe do it again. and re-install. hope that helps

Thanks for the advice and help. That noise has stopped now and I recently got 4 bottles of fuel injector cleaner and put 2 bottles of it in the tank. I put more than your supposed to but not much more so hopefully that will help a little bit as well once it all runs through the gas. There has only been a little bit of that ran through it so it will be a while longer until I can see how it works.
