    Engine build

Ok. I would like a streetable engine with good torque and HP, but that runs well on pump gas. I doubt I would ever take it to a strip, except to just see what it might do... but not competitively. I have a brand new 2101 Edlebrock intake and 4106 Carb. Logic would suggest that I stay w/ Edlebrock for the rest of my top end stuff (cam, lifters, etc.) Is 300-325 HP realistic? What would the top end cost if the bottom end only needs rings? Also, "blueprinting' was mentioned. What is that? sorry 'bout all the questions, but I have many Q's and few A's.

    Oops!

I didn't mean to start a new thread. This just goes to show how new I am to this web site. In reference to the thread labelled "new engine" it was meant to be a continuation of the conversation that exists inside Tommytown's posting. I have a SBC 350 4-bolt that I am going to "learn" on. I need someone to tell em what to do first.

    Engine teardown begun

    Thanks, Richard.
I have begun the teardown, just barely, though. I assume by "egged" or "tapered" you are referring to the 'out-of-round' configuration of the cylinders. I didn't know to do that, but I will.
Interestingly enough, when I took off the flywheel, the freeze plugs looked like they had just been put in. There was nothing even remotely resembling dust, dirt or road grime anywhere around the back of the engine. Is this normal for a car that has been on the road? When I got this engine it was mounted in a disassembled 1929 Nash coupe. I had worked on assembling and wiring the coupe for a while before recently selling it. the new owner was going all AMC and didn't want the SBC, so I kept it and the 400TH hooked to it. The engine hasn't been used for the 10 years I have owned it, and the car wasn't driveable when I bought it. I decided to learn about engines while I was between cars, so here I am.

Thanks, again, Richard. I will look for that.
