rebuilt 283 with new carb,older 327 intake it loads up when it gets warm??? does it need a plate between carb and intake for better air gas mix

What kind and size of carb did you put on it, sounds like it might be running too rich. Some more specifics would help.

pull the carb off and look under the gasket, if it has 2 - 3/8 holes on each side of the intake then it needs a steel plate under it. exhaust heat is coming up through those holes to heat the fuel up, but if you don't put the plate under the carb. then the heat will boil the gas in the carb. and load the motor up. its a thin metal plate that looks like a gasket.

Thanks for the help , the carb is a 600 edelbrock..

that might be the problem hehehe but liek said previously get a heat plate maybe a cool can.... also try a 600 holley hehe............scooter

the cool can wont fix this problem if thats what it is. if he cant get the right gasket then he'll need to the change the intake. the problem is he has exhaust blowing on the bottom of the carb and untill he gets that heat off off the carb. then the gas is gonna boil over. NAPA # G12-270
