    Question 307 to 350 ????

     



    gday guys, i have a 307 chevy which i want to make into a 350 i have got a price on a 350 crank which im happy with but im just wondering what else i need to change, like pistons rods or heads???, this is my first engine build and i need some help.

    JSH, you will need a block. Your 307 block will not bore to 4" safely. You will also need appropriate 4" 350 pistons. Rods and other small parts are the same. You will also need heads if you want this 350 to breathe.

    what BOB said & DO NOT buy any parts untill you have a 350 block & have a machine shop look at it, OR for about $1000-1500 you can get a new 350 from your chevy dealer.............joe

    I have a friend who owns a machine shop who has made several 350's out of 307's It will bore large enough to take a stock 350 piston, HOWEVER! I don't like the idea at all . Once you've done that and it needs rebuilding ,throw the block away. It's a one shot deal.350 blocks are still plentiful.Get one!
