water pump options
i am building a 283 for my porsche 914 the radiator is in the front and by some act of god my old 327 would cool but not great, i dont want to have this problem so when i build this motor i want it to cool i was looking at the mechanical pumps and the high flow ones will cool i think then i saw this http://www.moroso.com/catalog/catego...?CatCode=29300
check out the sceond one down it would give ne more space to move the motor closer to the firewall and i will only be running an alternator. my only concern is if the pump was to break how would i know i could watch the temp gauge sure but while ur driving thats not something u r always looking at. and also is this pump powerful enough to pull water that far? i want to hear of some personal experience before i buy one if this is not a good choice what would u recommend for this type of setup i need a compact high flow pump
thanks

I have used the Meziere electric pumps and find them to be as good or better at keeping a big block cool as a standard pump. I tend to think they are very reliable as well as free up power, but to your particular question... pumping long distances, I have never tried to remote mount a radiator, but I know Meziere makes a remote mount pump for doing these things, check the summit website foir them at http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...07495&x=17&y=9
Or check out this one from another site http://store.wpsracing.com/wapuel55gpre.html that puts out 55 GPM and is a flow thru design pump, this thing will cool that tiny little Chebie engine easily, and heck, you can always stop and help the fire dept put out any fires in the area if your bored, just hook your pump to the hydrant and blow the water out of your radiator hose! Good luck man, I think Meziere can get you cooled down and going strong. Oh, when I got my first Meziere pump I did not realize that they dont come with the inlet and outlet fitting, you have to order them seperatly for whatever size hose your going to use. Also on a block mount Meziere pump you have to buy the block to pump plate to mate the pump to your block, this is also not included. For your remote mount you should only need the inlet/outlet fittings.
Also, here is the manufacturers website http://www.meziere.com/http://www.truckpulls.com

I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
