World Products / Bill Mitchell Hardcore Crate Engine

    All --

Has anyone installed one of the World Products crate engines, specifically the 415 or 427 CID small block?

I have read all available magazine articles reviewing these crate engines, and they seem favorable, but would be curious to get feedback from anyone having firsthand experience with these engines.

I would be installing the engine for cruising and daily driving (weather permitting), so I would be especially interested in feedback concerning streetability, as well as general performance, etc.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I've only bought one crate motor, but I think Chevy's factory prices are much better than Mitchells for a similar engine. I'm betting Mitchell's are better overall quality - but how much do you want to pay?

I bought a Fast Burn 385, 385hp@5600, 385lbs-ft@4000. But, I added the factory Hot Cam and 1.6 roller rockers, which takes the motor to 430hp@5800 and 430lbs-ft@4000. Added a Speed Demon 750 with vacuum secondaries. Should be plenty for a 2800 lb. car.

    $4126 + $495 for the cam & lifters.

I probably could have built one for a better price, but I was new in this area, don't know any of the performance engine builders, and by the time I found a block and added up the parts, there wasn't much diffference.

If you want a Hi-Po crate engine, it's hard to beat the factory units these days.

I didn't get mine from Sallee, but here's a link:
