    intake manifold question

i heard that the brand Professional Products makes intakes very similar to some of Edelbrocks designs, for a lot cheaper. I saw an intake similar to to air gap, it is called the cross wind, for about 80 bucks less. Does any one know of this company or has bought any of their products? Are they any good or should i just spend the extra buck on the known brand?

personally I dont like copy cat brands. Edelbrock put in alot of R&D into there products. Ive heard both good & bad about the quality of proffesional products intakes. Ive heard the ports dont line up well, Ive heard of water weeping from the cross over through the casting also.

:If its the one Im thinking about , its made in China. It looks good on the shinny side and real suspect on the side that really counts. I would like to see a dyno comparison. I doubt that it would hold its own. Would be interesting to see.

I actually called Proffessional Products a couple years ago, I was on the fence about buying one, I asked where theyre made, he stummbled & never gave me a real answer. I personally avoid chinease made products whenever possible. Id rather not help support there weapons program. John

CSF...well I partially agree. I try to buy American, however if I cant do that, I try NOT to buy products made in countrys that are enemys or threats to us.
I say you can also blame greed from corporations & I know Im gonna tick people off here...but also Unions.
I can see this thread changing directions already LOL

Nah not really...cheaper for Edelbrock to sell the blemished products than recycle them.....I'd buy one....but the quality will be a second too...

nah,I wont buy stuff from these fly by nite places, if its a co. Ive never heard of before, I try to check them out, Id rather pay a little more for a good product, Ive learned my lesson the hard way one to many times.
I remember trying to save a few bucks a few years back & bought Proform rockers for a SBC I did for myself. First rocker broke within a couple hundred miles, they replaced it, than a 2nd broke a few days later, they replaced it....still I was pissed.
I swapped em for Comp cams, never broke another one. John

Pretty sure they're not blems and seconds from Edelbrock.

The one manifold of theirs I looked at was an air-gap "performer" for the small block Mopar. The novel thing was that it had manifold bolt bosses which allowed use on either early LA heads or the newer Magnum pattern. The Edelbrock didn't.

That's not to say they didn't draw the casting plug from an Edelbrock manifold then modify it, but I would think the Edelbrock attorneys would be all over that.

    Regards, Mark

At SEMA the past two years, we stood at the Performance Products booth and looked at the operation. They chose colors that are the same as Edelbrock. Their logo contains a rectangle and detail that is comparable to Edelbrock. Their manifold castings had blank inserts where the name would normally go. No mention of China in their booth......forgot to look for the fine print on the boxes.

Looking at the registered corporate names in California,

    http://kepler.ss.ca.gov/corpdata/Sho...startnumber=50

Since Edelbrock was taken private, their associations and ventures are not public info anymore......this is either a method to develop a Chinese source before the name association is made OR it is like the Chinese copies of Delco stuff....same box, same logo, but no name.
