Ok so the common opinion I am getting here is that the stock 400 heads are shit and prone to cracking.

What do you think about using world S/R replacement heads?

No opinions of the World S/R heads for this motor? Anybody have any experience with them?

why would you want to use a head that is matginally better than a stock head when there are so many aluminum heads available for a few bucks more that would so drastically outperform these cast iron heads that it is not feasible to make the same power per dollar spent even if you had the cast heads ported

I dont know about them thats why I asked. I didnt know what the performance is on these heads are thats why I asked a question. So they are only marginally better than a set of stock heads...I wont consider them....thanks for letting me know that.

As far a aluminum goes I would love to find something adequate. My dilemma is this. Pistons are already purchased and block bored to them. I had originally planned on using the stock heads modified and therefore chose a piton based on that. the original heads are 76cc and yeild 9.6:1 compression. So I need to stay with 76cc to keep compression moderate for pump gas. I have yet to find an aftermarket head, let alone an alumimun one with 76cc. The only after marlket 76cc head I found was the World S/R, that is why I asked about it. Shit if I could use a Vortec head I use them but the cc's are too small. So any suggestions from anyone is always appretiated.

i would use an air flow research 195 street head.. they have 74cc chambers and the small amount of compression gained should not be a big deal as you can safely run 10 to 1 with the aluminum head as it will dissipate the heat faster and you can alter the compression ratio slightly by using a thicker or thinner copper head gasket as need be...your final compression ratio is computed using all of the volume above the piston which include any volume of a dish and/or valve reliefs in the piston, the thickness of the head gasket, and the volume in the head. hope this helps
