    305 specs?

     



    hey i was wondering what the specifications on a 1977 305. I've looked but i can't find anything on them. any help would be appreciated. Any performance suggestions for this engine, its goin in a 85 1/2 ton p/u. Thanks in advance.

    1977 305 was rated at 145HP amd 245lbs. of torque. Compression was 8:5.1 A dual plane intake manifold with a 600 cfm carb with headers will do a nice job of increasing HP and torque and a bigger cam and larger heads will do even better.

    thanks for the info, hopefully it will do okay in a 1/2 ton chevy, have u ever heard of an Edelbrock Streetmaster intake? Noone I've asked haas ever heard of it, but this engine has it! let me know. thanks again!

    yes I recall the Streetmaster, Performer would be much better suited. for performace suggestions stay conservative. 305s small bore makes it really easy to over cam & over carb. if its a stock bottom the Edelbrock Performer cam works great in it. as far as heads, if you plan to improve flow Id recomend either Vortec, or World Products S/R 305 heads. If you plan to keep it within 5500 RPMs a 500 CFM carb..or Q-jetwill be best suited.
