hey cutlass lovers i need help
hey i have a 87 cutlass supreme and i just came up on a LT1 engine outta a 96 camaro and i need some help with findin out how much trouble i am gonna have with the underbody.. and possibly the fuel tank. if u can help or have any suggestions or know something i don't please let me know.......not to mention i am in iraq with the army at the moment........TJridin big and fast

Hey TJ I've done alot of work to my buddys 86 442 for him so I might be able to help you out some, but I dont quite understand what it is your asking? can you explain a little more what your tryin to find out?

yeah i am tryin to put this LT1 in my 87 cutlass and i was told by somebudy that i may have to do a little work to the cross members and somewhere in the rear...also he said i may have to shorten the driveshaft.....and just lookin for some other pointers if someone has anyridin big and fast

Most of this depends on what all you're swapping. The block itself should be a straight bolt in, right up to existing tranny, provided it was already a V8 car. You'll need the computer and fuel pump if you keep the fuel injection. You'll have to fit the pump into your tank or build one for it. But the motor itself shouldn't be a problem. As far as the crossmember goes use a stock SBC pan from a similar car, it should all fit fine. If you're going to use the tranny it all depends on what was in the Cutlass to begin with, you may have to modify it some, but it shouldn't be too bad. We just put a newer model SBC and a 700r4 into an '80 or so G body and all we had to do was remount the tranny mount. Pretty straight job.

hey guys thanx for the help and just to let u know i am actually puttin the tranny that is with the LT1 in my cutlass as well. i got every thing from the radiator back to the exhaust except the rearend my buddy still needs the rearend. if anyone has any advice on anything else let me know becuz i am stuck fightin in iraq right now and i am tryin to have everything ready to assemble as soon as i put boots on the ground back on U.S. soil........Thanx TJridin big and fast
