    I need help

We have a 78 camaro that has been hulled out and we race it in the dirt, I have a small problem, we put a 383 stroker in it and we put a new cam in it today we got every thing back together except we can't seem to get the timing right!! Please help me and tell me if we're doing it right?
The guy at the parts store told me that the firing order goes clockwise, is that right?
We lined it up at our mark and we got the piston to the top and got the distributor pointing to # 1 piston and we can't get it to crank yet?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!!

Yup, what Denny said, make sure you're TDC on the compression stroke. Your timing mark should be lined up with the timing tab. If you have done all this, make sure you're getting fuel and fire. But my initial guess would be you got 'er lined up TDC on exhaust stroke.

The dist in a Chevy runs clockwise. Pull the left valvecover and rotate the crank until you see the intake valve open then close, then align your timing marks. This will make sure your on the compression stroke. You sayyou just put a new cam in it? Are you positive the timing marks on the sprockets are aligned?

What exactly is it doing? Spitting out the carb, popping out the exhaust?

    Hope this helps.
If you cant raise hell with it, its not worth owning.
