    cam

I am putting a cam in my 350 and the lobes do not line up there a little far back and one lifter is hitting two lobes the guy who did the work on my block says that once I tighten my gear on to it, it will suck it out a little, dosnt make much since to me. I think I might have the wrong cam tried to look it up but couldnt find it. It is (EPWI ?) MC 1730 If you can help I'd appreciate it

The cam does float a bit, install the gear and then take a look.

Cams move enough to where some folks install a "cam button" on the front to keep the gear off the timming chain cover.

A take a look once the gear is installed at the cam bearing placement.

    You should be ok

Cam and a 350 4 bolt are seperate issues.

I didn't recognize the number you mentioned for the cam.
Have you tried the cam manufacturers?
Give Comp Cam a call, they are good people over there and they may be able to tell you what you have.

Four Bolt mains are just that, main caps have 4 bolts, not 2.

Thanks I'll give them a call. I am a green horn on motors, vehicle motors, I am an A&P and I build turbine engines for a living our free turbine turns 75,000 RPM and we have a tol. of .005 of a mm (five microns) on our parts, anyway the only reason I am rebuilding my 350 four bolt is that it is a four bolt main, for the extra strenght. I just had to let you Know that I am not a complete idiot, I guess I should have put, I have some ? about my cam, in my 350 four bolt. I am queit sure I did not draw that line and write the message under there the first time and positive I didnt write it the second time. Dont Know way it keeps showing up

    I totally understand.
I sure hope that my message didn't seem to be condecending to you. It was not my intent to talk down to you.
We were all new to this once.
I just wanted to be clear.
You wouldn't belive some of the stupid things I have done in the past on motors.

Again, I offer my appology if I offended.

    turbine

now there's a powerplant I dream of. Literally. I wish they'd develope them more for street. I read that chrysler experimented with one and if it burned it would run off it. It said that mexico contacted chrysler wanting a car that would run off tequila. They had it running off vegetable fuel and everything else. On trucks they had this s-10 with these huge stacks going up through the bed. They were saying why do we need stacks this big? then they cut to the motor and said simple, you need stacks that big when you're moving 5 lbs of air per second. I was like omg.

    Firebird
What a good waste of tequila just joking I had not heard of that pretty interesting maybe one day who knows

    And to who ever knows

I am having a heck of a time try to put my pistons in don’t know if I just have a crapy ring compressor or if there is a trick to it and in the heat of the battle one of my pistons got cocked in the cylinder and has put a good size gouge on the skirt of the piston 1/8 of an inch below the oil control ring should it be replaced or just filed down flush
