    Question timing chain cover

Hope someone can help. I have a 72 vette with the original 350 and recently put in a gear drive. It works fine but I bought an aftermarket timing cover and used the stock oil pan. I got a major oil leak right at the bottom of the timing cover. It seems that the timing cover is to short. I was able to stick a .008 feeler guage inbetween the pan and the gasket. I would rather not have to take everything back off to change the timing cover if I don't have to. Is there a different pan I can use?? Or any suggestions. I already tryed to put some RTV on it and it does not hold. Thanks, Greg

Denny, thank you for the reply. I used a Felpro one piece gasket when I put it back together. And yes, the leak is right at the bottom of the "U". I will try and see if I can get a thicker one today. Thanks again, Greg
