    350 Starter Porblems

Ok this might not really be concidered a motor problem but oh well. I have a 1969 Chevy C10 that has a built 350 small block. It has 11.5:1 compression, weiand intake, headers, holley 650 carb. I have now put three starters on it. I just used remanufactuerd starters from my local auto parts store. After about 5 or 6 starts they start dragging, and the last one had a solenoid stuck and kept on cranking. So im wondering if there is something i am not doing right, or there is too much motor for the remanufactured starters. I also have a very small oil leak from the oil pressure fitting could that be the problem???
    Thank you
    Eli

Sounds to me like you need to be shimming the starter to make sure it is mating with the ringgear/flywheel properly. Also make sure that you are using the front bracket to keep it securely in place.

You should opt for one of those mini-starters with that much compression....It will do a better job...
