#'s for 350
G'day mate
i also have a 350 with the rear #'s reading the same 3970010 and this # is only 327's and 350's as far as i know.the numbers on the front pad on the passenger side of the block will tell you where and what year it is as well as what it's in,the website as some one said before is www.mortec.com.the 1st # in the vin on the front is where it was made, mine is a V which is flint MI.the 2nd and 3rd numbers are the month ex.08 which is the 8th month.the 4th and 5th which are the day ex.22 which is the 22nd.the 6th digit is for car or truck ex.T for truck, this digit is also included in the engine code, this along with the last 2 digits are the engine number ex.TWY it will tell you what it was in and the horsepower rating and the year it is.

"The other bad rap was overheating because of the steam holes, WRONG they cooled great, the problem was putting the wrong head gasket on and COVERING the steam holes, then they would overheat."
Thanks Viking, I never had a cooling problem with a 400 block because I always paid attention to the steam holes, but others seem to have had. This explains it.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

The # on my heads is 333882 = 350/400 heads. They also say F1276 or F1275 can't really tell. Motor should be a 75 or 76 350? Still don't know what it came out of though. Also, on the top passenger side of the block, is B? 49. the ? looks like a T or J? On the opposite side where the 3970010 is, there is also a GM with a 4 near it. I found another S on the block too. Does that mean anything?
Thanks for all the help!
I wanted to complain about this NZ slang business, but I see it was resolved before it mattered. LOL..
