I'd take the manifold off and make sure you check the intake ports incase it rolled down into them

it shouldn't roll past the valves unless it's a tiny ass bolt. don't crank the motor any though

unless you're running a .500 lift cam and it happened to fall into that port and assuming it was fully opened and fell in just right I wouldn't think it would fall past the valves. I'd take the manifold off and check all the intakes ports and if you're valves are clear turn the motor slowly by hand and if you feel resistance stop

We were putting a motor in another firebird once and we dropped a bolt down the distributor shaft. Didn't have a magnet to get it out. Spent the better part of 4 hours cussing with coat hanger.

    fiber optic

does anyone know of a cheap manufacturer for a fiber optic camera? This would be the perfect use for one. Hell if they can take a gander at the inside of my bladder I oughtta be able to look inside my cylinder bores

Not likely it would get past the valve if it even got that far....I would try one of those magnets on a telescoping rod....bend it to get around corners if you have to. Just dont turn the engine over, just in case!

Start by removing the manifold and see if you can find the bolt

With the manifold off you can get a flashloght and look into the heads and see if its there, with the manifold off you can use a wire like a coat hanger or a magnetic rod to retreve the bolt if its in an intake port

Buy new gaskets for the intake and anything you happen to remove that uses gaskets....

    Lots of luck
