I am about to change my oil in my 77 vette 350 CI V8 Rochester rebuit. My wife just got the car for me on my 30 birthday about a week ago. How many quarts of oil does it take? And what oil works the best?

both my vets took 5 quarts,about 1 in the oil filter
and 4 in the pan,both vets had factory oil pans

change oil and filter, add 5 qts. crank motor and let run until the filter is full, shut motor off check the oil, if its full ok if it needs another qt. add it. no guessing. look for a sticker where the oil was changed before, if not most any 10w-40 or 10w-30 will be ok.
