Slow to take off
I got a 84 chvy short box 4x4 with 33" tires on it. My engine is a 350 with 265hp. i have a three speed auto tranny. My truck runs wild at 2500-5000 rpm. But to get off the line takes a while. I was wondering what the first place I should start? (New Tranny, Rear-end, or More HP!!!!!) I like the last one but I know its not all about the houses. I have header and exhaust, 2 1/2" all the way back. Where should I start?

Just like Denny said, need more info. I'd say your running a high set of gears probably around 2:76. Everything starts to work as you get your RPM's up. What cam are you running?Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

The motor is out of a 95 chevy and the carb is a 600 cfm Edlebrock 1402 with a 1/2" spacer. the part number of the cam says cs1018r (listed as a V-6 cam), but the guy who built it says its a step above an RV cam, whatever that means.Last edited by rcd3829; 06-22-2005 at 11:27 AM.
