Single Dart Plane Intake.
I am in the process of ordering a set of Dart Iron Eagle Cast Iron Heads with 200cc runners and 72 combustion chambers from Summit. I was wondering, however, if Dart's single plane intake would be the right intake to order? These heads and intake will be put together with an Eagle forged camshaft and H beam forged connecting rods. This set up would be to build a 383 Chevy small block. All suggestions are appreciated.

Would need to know the cam specs to know for sure. Basically the rpm range of the engine and the setup of your vehicle would also come into play.

Skunk, you generally choose an intake manifold the same way you do a cam, by the operating range in which you intend to use the motor. With the manifold, it's all a matter of pulling a negative pressure in the volume of the manifold so that cylinder filling can begin taking place. Dual planes are normally used for idle to 5,000 rpm operation while single planes are used for higher operating ranges. By choosing 200 cc intake runners in the heads, you've already taken a step toward higher rpm operation. If you had low-rpm torque in mind for a good stout street motor, you would have chosen 180 or 190 cc heads.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
