Demon carb...does anyone know about those?
Hey guys!
The tech at my shop told me the Demon carburator were a lot better than Edelbrock and Holley, calling them ancient technology.
He also said that what makes them better is that they are much more precise?
What's your two cents on that one?
Thanks!

WCFB (white cast four barrel) Carbs were designed in the early '50s.
AFB (aluminum four barrel) Carbs were designed in the late 50's or early 60's and then "modernized" by Edelbrock to add modern attachments and improve tuning access....still a 60's design
Holley Carbs were designed a looong time ago but the vacuum secondaries and double pumpers are 60's design. Holley made it as the universal carb because of their ease of understanding and availability of tuning parts.
Quadrajet Carbs first appeared in '66. Never caught on because of required knowledge to tune it properly. A lot of "bend to adjust" components.
Demon Carbs are the most modern and offer a sum of all the stuff learned from 30++ years of Holley tuning. Best of the bunch for 2005 if you want a carb......there hasnt been a new car manufacturer to use a carb in years so the factory development stopped.
AND THEN, a certain poster of long ago on this board would add the PREDATOR carb.....an entirely aftermarket design that never has/did/will catch on.

For fantastic low-rpm response, use their annular discharge model. If building for higher r's, use their downleg booster model.

if my memory serves me correct, DEMON is actually a holley brand carb. They are a ton better than holly because they are the performer version, and well edelbrock has never made a good carb that i have seen. They are worth the money if you can afford to pay what normal people pay for them.

Nope, Demon is manufactured by Barry Grant, Inc. out of Georgia. The design is based on the Holley design of yore but
the company is not affilliated with Holley.

Barry Grant worked for Holly. He had better ideas but could not sell them to the corporate brass. So he booked.

I've had a love hate relationship with BG. I would not buy another. the carbs that I have had had quality control issues with seats and base plates. Any moving parts in the carb had to be replaced with Holley parts due to the poor quality of there product in my Speed Demon. I had a base plate that was so damn hard to engage the secondary that I switch to a proform base. Would not hold a consistant Idle do to the poor aligment of the butterflies on the throttle shafts. The carb performed well on the dyno but on the streets thing went bad fast. I replaced and rebuilt my carb with Holley parts and all is well now, But I shoud not have had to do that. There Tech was a joke. They talked to me as if everything was my fault. CArb also leaked so bad when we balted it on the first time I had to go get new gaskets for the float bowl. PM me for more BG Hell. Buy a Holley HP. Or just build one. Theres not a whole lot to a 4150 style carb that you can't do yourself.

My BG Race Demon is sitting on the shelf. Took it out of the box, bolted it on, and fired it up. Never saw a carburetor leak from as many places as this did. The inspection card attached to it stated that they did all these tests on it and it passed every one. Took it appart and found metal shavings all thru it. The tech department said it was from my fuel tank, and the screws must have loosened up in shipment. My $952.00 mistake was buying a BG carb. Nuff said.Mike Casella

I have done many thinngs to the holleys. like some guys do to them. i have spent much time on them but what really pi$$t me off is when the teck/ floor sweeper told me hammer dents on the main body of my new 4500 holley was ok .NO it was not . lucky i have a mill .after i mill it it did work better for all the trouble. they sent me a set of main gaskets & bowl gaskets. i have a demon i just removed from a customers car i do not know what he or the last guy did to it to be fair but it ran bad and he had it . so i put a afb edelbrock on it and runs much better.i can not tell a customer to use somthing thats to much $$ and dose not work good . i have not heard a lot of good thinngs about the demon. the name is good DEMON .they give you nigth mares. you mite need to get you car a exorcism
