Obviously you knew it was a 350 - sorry I didn't give that as a clue for you engine guru's -
Thanks for the answer - thought I would give you an easy one for a Sunday morning - if you didn't go to bed so early back east, you could have had an easy one to go to sleep on. Also, thanks for the alternative answer - I can always count on you giving more than one expects - have a good day

Let me see - is GMT +10 is the same as Eastern Daylight Savings Time which is the same as GMT + 8 which is Rocky Mountain Daylight Savings time here. The GMT is necessary for our Int'l web browsers; however, a pain in the #$%*@( for us US folks - kind of like metric. By the way on the boots, with a 15 why don't you just buy the little misses (presuming there is such) a couple of pair of shoes and you just wear the boxes!!
Back at ya later,
Ronnie

Here is how my world figures GMT
NY is east coast usa and that is GMT -5.00 hours.
GMT +10 would be australia, vlidivostok rushka, or guam.
If yo are posting at some odd hour (4AM for instance) then GMT is 9AM (GMT - 5 hours = your time, or your time +5 hours = GMT)
if you can figure this out, you'll know where in the world it is 5 pm so you'll know it is beer time somewhere all the time. and if you dring enough beer, you won't care.Chris

Where are you getting these codes at? So far, the only one I know of is by the transmission and that is 3970010.

Ok, I've got one: V0130TXD. Also, has anyone heard of Power-Pak rebuilt engines? I've got their tag riveted to the side of my engine near the oil filter.

Dang, that means my numbers don't match. No, I haven't owned the truck for nearly 30 years as I am only 18. I have owned it for 1.5 years. I bought it for 850 from the Jewish Charity Auction/Wrecking yard. I guess its good that the engine was originally built for a 3/4 or 1 ton because that means it should have the good stuff inside like a forged crank and the beefier rods. I think it may be the high nickle casting, but I haven't had any reason to pull the timing gears yet. As for the PowerPak, it is the company that rebuilt it. They rivited a tag on the side of the engine near the oil filter saying: Rebuilt PowerPak Stock number... I just wanted to know if anybody has heard anything about that company.

Oh, it's definatly a 4-bolt main, I had to pull the oil pan because it was leaking onto my headers and making big smoke. I think the crank is forged, the casting numbers were on the other side and I didn't feel like turning the engine over, there were the lines as if it had been hammer forged. And the rods had an X cast into the end of them.

TKA: 8-350 4BC..165 HP "L" in the VIN. (OPT LS-9)
'78 ½ ton 4x2 GMC/Chev. Trk. Federal, M.T.
also '76 GMC 1500 painted Chevy Blue..
Do a search on the LS-9 and it will give ya more specifics about it...
the 19619 should be the last 5 digits in your VIN! That is how GM determines a "Correct" car, and if you change the engine and it doesn't match the VIN then you lose value on a Classic or Antique vehicle..
