Hold off choosing a cam until you know whether you're gonna use carb or efi.

    Check out this link:
    http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/modthel03.html

They used World heads and talk about getting over 360hp.

I am going to pull the TBI on the 305 and go with a carb being I do not want to mess with putting the computer system in the Camaro But think I can get up to 340 to 350 HP when I finish.

Well, the link that i was given to goingfaster.com said that the Holley TBI setup would give better flow and power than carburation. They also said that the injection gives better milage. Ill take a look at those heads because i can get the world heads for about 150 or so each. 300 bucks for a set of assembled torquer heads is a helluva deal...whatcha think?

Still looking for help on the build up (what products i should use from the brands)

If anyone has time could you post a list of EVERY part needed to build an engine. (i.e. block, heads (also what goes on the heads), ect.)

The link doesn't work. Go back to the six links I posted and tell us which one it is.

Block, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, piston rings, main bearings, rod bearings, cam bearings, cam, timing chain, timing chain cover, oil pump, oil pan, oil pump pickup, oil pimp shaft, fuel pump, heads, intake, carburator, distributor, coil, plugs, plug wires, water pump, alternator, thermostat, radiator and hoses, exhaust manifolds, a lot of bolts, gasket set, lifters, push rods, rockers, valve covers, air filter, oil filter, flywheel, starter, fan, v-belts, freeze plugs, sensors, battery, harmonic ballancer, pulleys, oil, antifreeze, motor mounts

some of these parts you will need to check before you order them. Like the bearings and piston and rings. if the crank or block needs machine work or has been machined, you will have to order oversized

On the first link follow it back to the home page and it will give another hop-up stroking the 305 to a 335 and using a better TBI unit from Holley.

Thanks again, I had asked this question in another site for 3rd gen Camaros where most everyone is under 22 and never turned a wrinch two weeks of smart a$$ remarks from them and had all the info I need here in a couple of hours

    Great group of guys

    Charles

what are you doing to get 335?
your gas milage is all based on how long you keep the pedal to the floor.

Are you going to use an engine that you already have or do you need to start from the ground up? I got a 91 305 with auto trans and everything on the engine yet ( AC, starter, PS pump, ect.) for $199 off E-bay If you have an engine I can send you my shopping list, it's a combo to the two from above. I went with everything from the TBI build except for the cam choice from the Car Craft list and I am going with the carb over the TBI. I am only going with the carb due to my 84 would need all the wiring and computer moved from a doner car into my 84 and my son wants to use a "old school carb"

I work at a garage so we have 305's stacked to the roof. Im going to just grab one, have the machine work done to it and then start building it back up to a complete engine in my spare time. I already have the 700r4 trans in my truck Ill just carry it over....i WOULD LOVE FOR THAT SHOPPING LIST...I'll pitch it to the guy (my girlfriend's dad) that is teaching me to build and see what he thinks...He might be able to get certain components for better prices..ect. Thanks!
