Engine Casting Number Questions
I just got a 350 small block. I have found the head casting number (14102193) and block casting number (14093638) but I can't find the engine casting number. I can't find any with the same prefix. It is V1014TPA
I haven't seen anything like this before. There is also a "Void if removed--Tim-Andrews. The TPA in the engine casting number could be in reference to Tim Andrews.
Is there anyone who can tell me anything about this?

First of all, the engine has two major castings...the block and two heads.....how would there be an engine casting number? The casting has a part number. After it is cast, it is machined to dimensions....and therefore has another number. The machined number is usually the part number but that is not on the block or heads.
There is an identifier that you show to be TPA on your block. This indicates the body, transmission, a usually horsepower of the installed assembly. The other tag with some guy's name on it is probably a rebuilder tag.

I suppose what I couldn't find was the engine assembly date/suffix code. So this V1014TPA would mean it was assembled in a factory representated by V on 10/14. I am not sure about the TPA. So, then I have the other numbers (14102193 and 14093638). What else can I find out about this motor? I want to know what it came out of originally and what it is exactly.
Thanks--and sorry if I am not giving all of the correct information--I don't know too much about engines.

That is fine. I basically just want to know anything I can about this engine. The valve covers bolts are in the middle of the valves but have the old type manifold bolt pattern. I am wondering what original horsepower this engine was.
Thanks

Couldn't find anything under TPA, could it be TBA? Under that there are 3 listings. C-10,20,30 215HP. C-10to3500 255HP and C-10to1500 165HP> The first one is a 2 bolt main and the other 2 are 4 bolt. Hope this helps.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Look on your engine where you got your got your TPA number and see if the P is actually a B.Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Now that you say it could be a B, it looks like it is. I cleaned it very well but sometimes I guess you can still be wrong.

Okay, so I got another engine (this one is a 4 bolt for sure, we checked ourselves). We want to know what the chamber size is. Is there anyway you guys can let me know. The head casting number is 10110810. Is there anything else you guys can tell me about this?

Between 14102193 and 10110810 which one will be the best for a strong street rod? Or, should we look for another head all together? Sorry for all the questions. I looked at that link but have not become very familiar with that site and find it difficult to navigate!
