    Engine build-up

Joe, I don't know how many shops will build up an engine they didn't do the machining on themselves. If something goes wrong on start-up the finger pointing begins between the machinist, the assembler, and yourself.

I've got a spare engine stand you can borrow for a couple of weeks if you want to do it yourself. With a shop manual you could have it done on a casual Saturday.

    Regards, Mark

    Thanks Mark,

i've got the block on a stand now. i thing the crank is gonna need to be polished first.

i've checked with a few other forums and i'm not getting very positive feedback. i'll just assemble it myself. do you know anyone that can dyno tune it for me in the area? most of my experience is with 914's and type 4 motors.

    thanks

Joe, we have one of the "premier" engine shops around the corner from us here - machine/assembly/dyno - but I can't recommend them. They've gotten big and sloppy over the last 20 years, they don't think their s__t stinks any more. PM if you want the name as a shop to avoid.

What about just waiting until the engine is installed, that way the tune is done with the actual exhaust and intake system in place. It will be a fraction of the cost of an engine dyno and more representitive to boot. Quite a few chassis dynos around here to choose from.

    Regards, Mark
