SBC Exhaust covers
Hi guys, my engineer has asked for exhaust covers because I am not running hood sides. Anyone had experience making these or buying them. I would like to see some pics for ideas. I have seen those cheapy chrome ones on the net, what are they like?
SBC and Rams Horn Manifolds.

Re: SBC Exhaust covers
Try looking up the 'Boss Hog' motorcycle website. They have a real nice polished set of heat shields that work great (on their bikes). They even line the underside with heat wrap to keep from burning your legs. I considered buying them once and got quoted a price of something like $400 a pair, and that was 3+ years ago...

what are the requirements for the covers? If you want to go "econo", you can look at the 85 thru about 94 corvette exhausts. They are stainless exhaust headers that are similar to rams horns. They have a stainless sheet metal cover over them that can be polished......
I just threw a couple of sets of the covers away recently. The headers are similar in shape to ram's horn manifolds but made from round tube.
For an example, you can go to e bay and look for item 7991778404
they are cheap!

Thanks DeepnHock and Robot, I will look at those covers as soon as I can. I cannot use ebay at work. would you be able to post a pic here? I have purchased USA exhaust parts before only to find they don't clear my steering box (right hand drive) but I am keen to see what you are talking about anyway.

Why not cut a piece of 18 gage (.063 if I remember right) stainless to size and have a 90 degree break bent in.
Then make some brackets retained by the header or manifold bolts.
Said brackets bolt to the vertical part of the stainless sheet metal cover and that should do it.C9

Here's a link to their site....with part numbers to boot!
You can look around and see what they look like.
Send them an e-mail, they'll reply to your question...

Ok gang. It's been awhile. With everything that was going on taking care of my mom's affairs and making a few needed mods to the Healey, it was June before anything really got rolling on this...
