Your '91 has EFI, why would you be considering a carb??
Trust me, you don't need a big cam.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

The 5.3 is a completely differen't motor and will be nothing near a bolt in. The 5.3 has more in common with an LS1 than a 350 Vortec.

you seriously dont think the EFI will be that hard will it be better, my car has a 3.1 liter v6 in it now i will need a different wiring harness correct, why wont i need a big cam should i change the cam, wont the one be set more for torque since its coming from a truck most likely an s10

if you want to stay with fuel injection, you will need to switch your harness and your computer. what trany are you gonna use? are you gonna use throttle body or tuned port?
there alot of things you need to think about before doing this swap. if you are gonna use a 1996 and newer vortec, make sure you use the computer out of the vehicle you take the motor and harnes out of.dont be shady!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having put Vortec 350 motors in several vehicles, here are some tips:
1. The stock Vortec engines were supplied in 96 thru 99 Chevy trucks, etc and some 2000 vehicles like the Escalade. ALL require 4 oxygen sensors (pre cat and post cat) in stock configuration. UGH.
2. Companies like Fuel Injection Specialties in San Antonio can reprogram the computer to axe some of the stuff and change the gear ratio.
3. Only the 96 and 97 computers have no PassKey ingnition interlock.. use those years if possible
4. Engine doesnt rev very high in stock trim
5. Fuel lines need adapter to hook up. Use a chevy in tank pump
Injector setup is kinda tall for a Camaro hood, you might check before buying.
If you are going to take the fuel injection off, there is no reason to use a Vortec motor.....just use the Vortec heads

why is there no reason to use a vortec motor? and if i do take the fuel injection off and use a different intake and carb will the motor still last as long as is would with injection, i plan on findin one with 20,000 to 40,000 miles somewhere in that range

vortec 350
alright man... na a way im here with u...i have an 83 camaro with a vortec 350...def switch to a carb..i put on an edelbrock intake, and a holley 750... works great..no flooding, and most importantly it has a good throttle response...i have a bigger crank..400sb....got a roller cam roller lifts, you know all the nessesities u need when switchin to a roller cam....if i can afoord this off of one job and still in highschool u have many options...i dont run nos...its for pussies....i put my car on the dyno about a week ago and it read 355hp 325 ftlbs of torqu at the rear wheels....not bad for a street car...id say ur gonna enjoy the vortec....although its hard to find GOOD parts for them
