    Stupid newbie question.

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this but figured I would make sure before getting something damaged. My 59 Impala has a SB283 and I noticed today a ground strap hanging off near the starter. Can I connect this anywhere to the block or is there a specific place it should go?

ground is ground. I would put it on the neg batt cable screw as ground travles from there anyhow.

Sorry, clarification...it's not attached to the block, it looks like it may have been at one point. I think it's attached to the frame.

yeah, but your neg batt cable is attached to the block, just put it on with the batt cable. ground straps go from the frame to the engine. If it is off the frame, just connect it where you find available to, it makes no matter.

Matt is right. Before doing it make sure there isn't any oil or paint there. If there is then scrape it off and sand it down a bit.
