throw some money into the 350 you already have, buying a crate motor?.....i would consider your options for the 350 you have, throw 4k at it and you will have a nice screamer

Since you have 4k to play with, I am assuming you just want a high performance engine, not necisarily a high Cubic inch engine(383, 400 427 etc.), i would stick with the 350. . On crates they overcharge on labor and such. If you put that money into that motor, witht he right heads, cam, and labor, your 350 will out perform any crate you can buy for 4k. and you will still have some change left.
This is assuming that the 350 is still running and in usable shape.

as for the web site, www.summitracing.com
    i shop here.

jegs is ok too, some of their stuff is over priced but they do have some good deals. Also, if your looking for good parts you could try local individually owned shops. A lot of times they will have a wholesale hookup. They can't make a profit if they have to buy a retail part and then sell it. Sometimes they will be less than the big product companies like jegs and summit. JMO

also figure in shipping with jegs and summit. a year ago I bought a 2" 31.5" long thrush magnum glasspack, through summit, at the time they were 17.95, free shipping but 8 bucks handaling, it was still a little cheaper than advanced auto being 25+tax but now summit changed the price to 19.95, which would make it a few bucks more, so I bought the Thrush magnum for my falcon, right at advanced auto, and they carry or can get anything that summit or jegs gets except summit or jegs brand stuff.

I do belive '62 and below, used the 235 I6 which are front mount, '62 was the last year for the 235 I6, after '62 they had the 250 I6's that are side mount, so yeah there are diffrences. the '63 up mounts will probably work with a '63 up X member, possibly the original but modified but I don't know about the X member.
