engine swap
Okay, I'm about to admit my complete automotive ignorance and ask for help.
I have adopted an old 1939 International Harvestor pickup that I plan on converting to a woody wagon. The problem is that I'm more of a wood-shop guy than an auto-shop guy. Is there an
"Idiot's Guide" for engine swaps posted on the web somewhere?
How about a good book??
If anyone has personally done a swap in an older vehicle and can provide some assistance, I'm all ears!

What's the IH have for an engine now?
You could start by checking out the 'engine dimensions' thread
to see if you have room. There's a link there to a website with
engine sizes and weights.Last edited by dcoffield; 10-14-2005 at 08:26 AM.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
