The original color for a '60 283 would have been Chevy orange. Go to walmart and go to auto, there will be auto paints there, chevy orange engine paint is there, and all of the engine enamels are made by Duplicolor, and most of there regular paint is made by duplicolor also. Chevy only used 3 colors, 4 if you count newer vehicles which is black. chevy orange, chevy red and chevrolet corporate blue, but blue came in the mid 70's and red was later 60's but is not a common color to find. chevy orange is the most common. the old 216-235 I6's did have an aqua color engine but it was never used on V8's.You don't know what you've got til it's gone
