THANKS PAT, I'm new to this blower stuff but I'm trying to get the hang of it. I've been around it but never owned or run my own and it makes a difference.

my engine some people say should of not worked. but it works great and i have 10to1 and run 10 of boost i have the msd btm on mine and it all work and this been this way for 5 years and i am not easy on it. the cam this big and is on 110 this kills some static cr and at idle at the intake my vacuum is 2 inchs but when it runs in to boost hang on .but it sound like your on the edge. like i am to but it will work. i think i would of used the multi-layer steel head gaskets but that what i would have done .O rings are out the new head gaskets work good unless you run top fuel

they are used in the ls1and6 small block fel-pro makes them and cometic make them i have been told that they can take 20+ boost they are the way to go. the gaskets is flat plates of steel an can not move out like the fire ring on the old type of head gaskets

My boost timing is 32 degrees at full 6 psi boost. I'm running pump gas and haven't seen any problems And I did my homework on my piston selection and block height and headgasket to give me a good quench area. And last of all it is a little rich. If you got any other ideas to keep it out of detonation share em.

Ray, you certainly have done your homework. You've handled detonation with the proper quench, polishing, rich mixture and ignition retard. Good job!!!

Hey Pat, I'm with ya about the MLS head gaskets. Unfortunately for me, I had the block O Ringed. The new gaskets had just, just came out and didn't know anything about them. Oh well. Is your block O Ringed?

no it dose not. but the big block chevy has a verry good head bolt pattern .so head gaskets are 1017 fel-pros when i fresh it up i will go to MLS they are a bit $$ but they work good.the O rings work. i can not see useing them now the mls are out .and i see the copper head gaskets have coolant and oil seals on them ics titan. the price is out of this world. i do work on some O ring stuff on the 4.600 bore. but i would like to get back to a head gaskets like mls for them . on the O rings i do verry little of them. i have one customer that is using Orings .he takes the heads off all the time .and they work good for him .he reuse copper head gaskets many times .so this may be were they have a place

Another comment I might add is that dynamic compression ratio is also of consideration. I have heard stories of people who have changed cams to take out some of the overlap (less leakage of freash air fuel charge to exhaust) to get more horses from the blower and landed smack bang into real bad problems with detonation, and other issues. Just something to think about.

this is an awesome thread...... I'm taking notes as i read through all the comments and suggestions. Since i posted on page one I have picked up some very considering factors when I build a blower motor next year....thanks alot, glad to hear the engine is working beter with the pulley swap.

Yep, when you shorten up the cam timing to change overlap, you also change the intake closing point, effectively increasing the dynamic compression ratio. More compression, more chance to detonate with all else being the same.

if you leave the valve open to long then there is a chance the air from the blower wont let it close.
