Looking for a new engine for my Camaro. Would like it to have just a little lop on the cam. The ZZ4 is what I would like to get but just a little out of my $$$ right now. Looking at the 350HO right now, will it have a little lop to it?

350HO specs.

With its four bolt main block, nodular iron crankshaft, PM steel connecting rods and light but strong cast aluminum pistons, this engine screams durability. Add to the strong foundation a pair of 64cc Vortec cast iron cylinder heads with 1.94'' intake and 1.50'' exhaust valves which yields a healthy but streetable 9.1 to 1 compression ratio, and you've got the small block that you need for that muscle car or street rod project. The camshaft is a modern dual pattern interpretation of the old '65 to '67 Corvette 327 cam. But with more lift and duration on the exhaust side for clearing the combustion chamber better. While the intake duration and lift was decreased slightly to build more cylinder pressure.

330 HP @ 5000 RPM, 380 ft.lbs. Torque @ 3800 RPM (Max. Recommended RPM: 5500)

That is the same specs my crate engine has for the cam. Not a rumpity rumpity cam. But produces good power from idle to 5000rpm. Nice street setup. Good mileage with 650cfm carb, and stock convertor.

I don't know if those engines are worth the money. With the aftermarket the way it is now you can get great engines through many hotrod shops at great prices. Just check ebay. Even if you get someone elses engine you could get a really good deal. Take for instance I have a complete Edelbrock Performer RPM package 383 for sale for $2500.00 with barely a 100 miles on it. This package is $6000 if you order it right now. As soon as you get it in and unwrap it, it's value goes out the window if you decide to sell it. Not that anything is wrong with it, just that's a big trust issue so pricing usually makes up for that. In the end it makes for some good deals to be had if your careful.
