4.3 engine swap to 4.3 vortec
The engine in the old 88 gmc 1500 just passed a half a million miles and I poscess a 95 chevy s-10 (that dear old mom hit a tree service mulcher with) it has a 95 4.3 vortec that would be ample in the 88 gmc 1500 to keep things from being costly and complicated will the top end (the whole intake)on the existing tbi in the 88 gmc 1500 bolt right to the 95 vortec s-10 block and heads? The price of a carburetor and a marine intake defeats my whole purpose (we is and I mean is junkyard folk) all our money goes to cheap tools, food, gas and tire patches! Any info would be greatly appriciated

I might be wrong, but my understanding is that the intakes don't interchange because the way it mounts is different than non-vortec 4.3L. I don't think there is an aftermarket intake that will work with the vortec heads either.
Again, I could be wrong.---Tom

Edelbrock makes a carburetor set-up for both versions of the 4.3 but it gets ify right about the 95(these rigs are built fot MARINE,chevy puts a jillion of these motors in BOATS) model they speak of the vin code w then they talk of a letter T on the face of some engine blocks (drivers side right at timing chain cover) another bunch in Cali acted like they would produce a wiring harness that would allow to leave the 95 4.3 vortec (with its factory intake)and mate the harness to the gmcs, they quoted a $225 (that I would gratefully pay!) then said they were not set up for the vortec YET, boys and girls I'm lost.
