    New guy with a question

Hey guys, My names Ryan, im 17....i know i know, same age as most tuner kids, but i have discovered that hot rodders are way cooler guys, nicer to talk to, dont mind helping out...plus my dad used to have hot rods, and race/build stock cars. I have a 1989 Mitsubishi Might Max pickup, its lowered 4/6", it currently has a 305 in it while my 350s sitting on the stand. Im getting ready to start buying parts for my 350, but have a question. I need a full gasket set, i found one online i wanna order, but it says for years 1960 something to 1985....my 350's an '86. According to my dad theres no real difference, can anybody tell me if theres any difference between a gasket kit for an '85 and an '86?The only reason im not sure is that i couldnt see them advertising this kit for up to 85 only if itll fit later years.

86 TO 94 TAKE A DIFFERENT GASKET KIT.I WOULD GUESS THE 86 ON UP USE A 1- PIECE REAR MAIN SEAL.OR WAS IT 93?

One piece rear main seal is for sure in 1986, may have also changed to a 1 pc pan gasket too.

Motor changed? Yeah, my theory is when buying a used car that, even if its 2 months old, someones been under the dash improving the wiring harnesses. Ha. With that said, it could hold true for motors too. There should be a date code cast into the rear of the block on the top of the passenger side. Under where all the hoses disappear into the firewall. Get a flashlight and see if you can read the code. It should be something like Alpha, Numeric, Alpha characters (i.e. B165). This example would read B=February, Day=15, year=5 (1965, 75, 85 etc).

Welcome to CHR, 350. Very nice to see someone your age getting involved in Hot Roddin instead of ricers. There's more young-uns around here and the new ideas and insight is always refreshing to this geezer !!!!!!
